Banks Park Car Park
Published: 23 May 2025
We will soon be introducing parking restrictions in Banks Park Car Park. This is will be managed on our behalf by Horizon Parking. The intention is that all those who use the facilities on the site will not have to pay for parking, and those who are not using the facilities will not be able to park here all day or night as is currently happening. There will also be fines for not parking in a designated bay as this is increasingly happening and causing obstruction to other vehicles, with a number of minor prangs recently, and we have concerns about a more serious accident.
We do not yet have a date when the system will go live, but it will be shared in advance.
The system will work as follows:
- ANPR cameras are located at the entrance and exit of the car park to record numberplates on arrival and on departure.
- Everyone visiting the site for less than 2 hours will not need to do anything.
- Anyone visiting the site for more than 2 hours will need to record their number plate by entering it into a tablet inside the building, which will cover them for that day.
- Tablets will be available in the Village Hall, Library, Scout and Guide Centre and FitLife. The PC Office and Dentist will have access to an online portal, so each venue will have a dedicated access to the system.
- For those who are regularly on site as an employee, volunteer, or long term regular hirer, their number plates can be recorded on an exemption list held by the Parish Council and they will not need to enter their details for every visit. If they bring a different vehicle on site that will need to be recorded for the day or the exemption list updated.
- There will be a fine of up to £85 (reduced if paid quickly) for any vehicle that is here for longer than 2 hours and not registered, or parked outside of a marked bay.
