A look back at 2023

Published: 21 December 2023

With 2023 fast drawing to a close, we’ve taken a look back at some of our highlights from the last year.

We hope 2023 has been a good year for all our residents and wish everyone a happy and healthy 2024!

2023 Highlights

⭐ There could only be one way to start this year's list! Congratulations once again to Sue on receiving the prestigious Clerk of the Year Award at the Society of Local Clerks Buckinghamshire Branch Meeting! The award recognises the impact and contribution of Sue’s hard work on the local community.

⭐ We're very pleased to have made great strides with work to restore the witchert wall bordering the school footpath at St Mary's Churchyard and are pleased to say that work to the wall at the rear of the churchyard has been completed.

⭐ Working with Bucks Community Energy, we hosted Haddenham's inaugural home energy fair at the airfield pavilion. Featuring several expert speakers, the free event provided lots of great information on how to reduce energy use in the home, save money on bills, and switch to low-carbon heating sources.

⭐ After entering the Bucks Best Kept Village Competition, we were delighted when Haddenham was awarded runner-up in the Pushman Cup.

⭐ In a joint project with the the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust (ABCT), a memorial commemorating the history of Thame (Haddenham) Airfield was installed outside the Airfield Pavilion at Tibbs Road.

⭐ We've invested in improvements to Woodways pavilion, refurbishing the toilets and installing solar panels. This follows on from the 2022 refurbishment of the kitchen.

⭐ We were thrilled to be awarded Runner-Up in the Climate Change and Nature category at the Buckinghamshire Design Awards for Haddenham Airfield Pavilion.

⭐ We've hosted first aid training sessions with South Central Ambulance First Responders throughout the year, equipping dozens of Haddenham residents with vital life-saving skills.

⭐ We've refurbished the war memorial gate and railings to help preserve this important village feature.

⭐ We've helped support local organisations by awarding grants to: Haddenham Community Library, Haddenham Village Society, Haddenham Youth Football Club and The Sixty Plus Club.
