Join us for the unveiling of a memorial at Haddenham Airfield

Members of the public are invited to join us for the unveiling of a memorial commemorating the history of Thame (Haddenham) Airfield by the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust (ABCT) on Saturday 22nd July at 11am.

The airfield was in operation between 1941 and 2018, being initially used for military glider training. Later wartime use included aircraft ferry pilot training. In peacetime, the airfield saw significant civil general aviation use until the Upward Bound Trust gliding organisation began operations in the 1960s.

The memorial will be installed at a site by the side of the new Airfield Pavilion at Tibbs Road.

The ABCT aims to commemorate each known major disused airfield in the United Kingdom with a granite memorial – well over 200 have already been unveiled, with hundreds more being planned.
