Thame Road Cycle Lane to be Decommissioned

Published: 31 January 2022

The temporary eastbound advisory cycle lane, segregated cycle lane, advisory 20mph speed limit and parking restrictions on Thame Road will be decommissioned during February 2022.

The trial scheme was introduced in Haddenham in October 2020 through the Government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund, as part of measures to help people to make local journeys on foot or by bike as lockdown restrictions were eased. This included a temporary eastbound advisory cycle lane on Thame Road, sections of segregated cycleway and an advisory 20mph speed limit from Haddenham and Thame Parkway Station to the Woodways and Stanbridge Road junction.

In August 2021, it was announced that the trial scheme had been extended until the end of February 2022 to help better understand usage and to support the Parish Council's continuing wider work on walking and cycling opportunities in Haddenham for the longer-term benefit of the village.

The trial scheme will be decommissioned during February 2022 and the findings of the trial scheme (including data usage and feedback received) will be shared with the Parish Council to help inform future projects, such as the Streetscape Project. The Streetscape Project aims to plan and design safe access, travel and mobility for all throughout Haddenham. Further information on the project can be found on the Parish Council's website.
