Registration of Community Assets

Published: 01 September 2021

We’re very pleased to report that Buckinghamshire Council has accepted Haddenham Parish Council's nominations to register The King’s Head and The Rising Sun as Assets of Community Value.

What are Assets of Community Value?

A building or land can be listed as an Asset of Community Value if its main use has recently been, or is presently used, to further the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community and could do so in the future

If the nomination is successful, the land or building is added to Buckinghamshire Council’s register of assets and will remain on the list for 5 years.

During this time, if the owner of the land or buildings that are listed wants to sell them, they must inform Buckinghamshire Council.

This starts a six-month period during which an asset can only be sold if it is to a community interest group. After the six-month period the owner can sell to whomever they choose.
