Love Food, Hate Waste Workshop Success
Published: 11 March 2026
We had a fantastic time at our Love Food, Hate Waste family workshop on Saturday 7th March at the Airfield Pavilion, delivered in partnership with Green Futures by Foodrise as part of Haddenham Parish Council’s pledge to become carbon neutral by 2030. 🌍✨
The session focused on helping families build simple, sustainable habits to reduce food waste — from learning how improper storage contributes to waste, to discovering creative ways to turn commonly discarded ingredients into delicious meals. Children aged 7+ got hands-on in the cooking practical, transforming leftovers into something tasty to enjoy at the end.
Food waste is a major climate issue, and small changes at home can make a big difference. By learning how to store food properly, plan meals, and use leftovers, families are helping cut carbon emissions, save resources, and protect the planet for future generations.
And the feedback from those who joined us has been absolutely wonderful:
💬 “My 7-year-old daughter and I loved it! She’s already asking when the next one is and wants to bring her brother. It really inspired her – she now wants to apply to be her class Eco Councillor next year! The workshop leaders were excellent and made it fun and informative for everyone.”
💬 “We loved it! Thanks for putting it on – a great little family afternoon. The ladies that ran it were fabulous.”
💬 “Thank you for organising the Love Food, Hate Waste workshop. It was well organised and really informative.”
It’s fantastic to see our community enjoying free, family-friendly activities while learning practical ways to reduce food waste. Thank you to everyone who came along — and if you missed out this time, don’t worry, more workshops are on the way. 🍎🥕
