Biography

I have been the Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer to Haddenham Parish Council since May 2014. Before moving to Haddenham I was Assistant Clerk at Wendover Parish Council for 3 years, which was quite a change in direction as my career since graduating university had been in the pharmaceutical industry working as a cell biologist. Having learned the ropes in Wendover I decided it was time to take on a greater challenge and more responsibility - little did I know what was on the horizon when I took on what was a part-time role at Haddenham.

Haddenham is a great place full of charm and character with a wonderful community spirit and one of the greatest challenges we currently have is to retain all of this while dealing with the impact of growth. The Parish Council has had to rapidly modernise and expand in order to keep up with the changes brought on by development and the impact of austerity. The Council is very forward thinking and pro-active and as the Clerk it is my role to ensure that the Council acts within the legal framework, provides a responsive service for its residents and uses its powers to deliver new and improved facilities whilst properly managing its existing assets.

I have the pleasure of working alongside some highly talented Council members and the Deputy Clerk Emma who is professional and supportive. Collaborating with many groups and individual residents since joining is one of the most rewarding aspects of the role, by using the connections the Parish Council has with other organisations to bring people together to get things done for the community. I’m looking forward to the challenges of the next few years where the Council will be working with the community to deliver a range of new facilities and significantly improving some of the existing ones.

Biography

I was delighted to join Haddenham Parish Council in September 2018 after working as a Clerk for Little Marlow Parish Council for 4 years and Deputy Clerk for Hughenden Parish Council for 9 years. Prior to working in local government I worked within Computer Forensics and Security.

Parish Councils are the first tier of local government and the closest to the community it serves. There are lots of challenges ahead for Haddenham as the village is expanding rapidly with lots of new housing developments being built. Haddenham is a vibrant community and the parish council is very active in ensuring the full integration of our new residents within the village. This growth gives the Parish Council a unique opportunity to use the funds it receives from this expansion to improving the local facilities for all parishioners.

It is an exciting time as the Parish Council strives forward to improve Haddenham’s amenities. There is never a quiet moment here! Emma works Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Biography

I have recently joined Haddenham Parish Council as the Finance and General Administration Officer in June 2025. Before this, I spent 13 years working in the Construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor, gaining valuable experience in financial management and project coordination. I'm excited to bring these skills into my new role and look forward to the challenges ahead as we continue to grow and expand this proactive, welcoming village.

Biography

In September 2024, the Parish Council made the decision to bring its grounds maintenance service in-house. We were delighted to welcome Shane to our newly formed team—his contributions have been instrumental in getting the service up and running. Shortly after, Josh joined the team, and we were pleased to welcome Bryan as our most recent addition.

Shane, Josh, and Bryan are now responsible for maintaining all Parish Council-owned land, including regular inspections of our playgrounds. If you see them out and about, do say hello—they’ll be happy to chat. The team take great pride in their work, and we are thrilled with the positive feedback we've received since the new service began last year.

Biography

I joined Haddenham Parish Council at the start of 2026, having graduated the previous year with a degree in Politics from the University of Leeds. While this is my first role within local government, I have previously worked as a psychiatric healthcare assistant during a gap year, a writer for an independent music magazine, and roles across the bar and retail sectors.

During my time at university, I completed an additional exchange year at Waseda University in Tokyo. There, I developed my Japanese language skills and took part in intercultural discussions on a range of political issues. Inspired by comparative perspectives on governance, I went on to write my undergraduate dissertation on Indian politics, examining evidence of potential breaches of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights under the current BJP administration.

Outside of work, I have achieved Grade 8 in both singing and trumpet, and have toured internationally with orchestras and choirs. I am an avid attendee of live music events and enjoy attending concerts and festivals whenever possible. I also enjoy running and going to the gym, having competed in cross-country events while growing up, as well as reading, cooking and travelling. I have been fortunate to spend time backpacking in several countries.

I am keen to develop a broad range of skills during my time at Haddenham Parish Council and to contribute positively to the changes taking place in the village, ensuring that residents’ views are heard and reflected in the work of the Council.
