For many years I chaired an innovative Oxford charity supporting youth and older people’s projects at Blackbird Leys, and served as a governor of an Oxford primary school. Jim Brown

Biography

My background is within the public service having been a member of the Metropolitan Police force from 2001 to 2016 and my most recent position as a Bank Branch Manager with the South Central Ambulance Service.

I moved to Haddenham in 2015 and have become increasingly involved in village life.  I live in the new development near the Train Station with my wife and two boys.  We have found the village to be a warm and welcoming environment.  I consider that I to an extent represent the changing face of Haddenham and I have become resident Director of the Chilworth Management Park and I enjoy this role immensely.  I stood as a candidate in the Haddenham & Stone by election in March 2019 - an experience I found to be most rewarding as it meant that I really got an insight into how the Parish Council and the village as a whole works.

Biography

My wife and I have recently moved into Townside, Haddenham, having lived in Harefield, Middlesex for some 20 + years. My wife works from home as a Contracts Manager in the field of Clinical Research and I’m a Project Manager for one of the larger MEP contractors, currently working on Battersea Power Station and The Madison at Canary Wharf to name a few.

We’ve both been overwhelmed by the warmth and generosity of the welcome that we have received in the village and wish we had made the move many years ago We’re looking forward to taking part in all that the village has to offer and to do as best we can to help the Community maintain the unique qualities that make it such a lovely part of the world in the face of mass development and other challenges.

Biography

I have resided in our beautiful village for the past 26 years with my family. I have three children, five grandchildren, so we are a very busy growing family. For my business, I work in Financial Services. I started my career 37 years ago and from 1998 have worked as an Independent Financial Adviser locally in my own practice, part of a professional team helping build Chiltern Consultancy and looking after clients in the Home Counties. I enjoy most sports, but played rugby locally and am a passionate fan of the game and former coach. I’m also a keen swimmer as well as a real lover of the outdoors, nature, and our environment.

I hope my enthusiasm will benefit our community projects, I appreciate I’ve some big shoes to fill with supporting the Haddenham community, as well as building on the fantastic work already in place with many local projects. I also support Haddenham Beer Festival Committee, as well as having attended all events since launch, being a keen member of CAMRA.

Biography

I have enjoyed and valued the strong community spirit that characterises Haddenham since moving here with my family in 1998. I believe that if we want to keep this sense of community we need to get involved. When my children were little I was a school Governor, I was a founder member of the Thames Swimming Club, have been involved with a range of environmental projects, helped establish the Community Orchard at Townsend Green and was centrally involved in the Feast Festival. I am committed to addressing climate change in all aspects of public and private life but am also convinced that the community should be included and consulted in all decisions that affect them.

I have worked for Criminal Justice agencies and local Charities across Buckinghamshire and now work through a Justice Skills agency, currently placed within the Ministry of Justice in London. Belief in community means that I shop locally, use local businesses whenever practical, and leave my car at home whenever I can.
