Summer 2011

Last time the guides have to walk on the road.

May time has brought workers to Snakemoor, this time in the form of the Guides. They spent time tending to the young trees, watering and clearing around them.

July was a busy time for Snakemoor’s harvesters, cutting and bailing the meadow so many thanks go to them. Many of the bails are now being used by the Horse Trust.

Great celebrations began in August. After the hard work put into planning, funding and building the path from the station to Snakemoor, it was time to officially open the path. Cutting a garland of ivy strung across the path, Michael Whitney declared the path open, before Snakemoor supporters enjoyed a pig roast and refreshments.

Councillor Margaret Aston shared how the councils had been pleased to support the path, recognising the reserve as a great asset to the area.

Lady Cynthia Floud , Chairman of the Haddenham Safe Walking and Cycling Group was delighted at the creation of another path adding to those created in the last ten years, but stressed the importance to achieve more, including a safe cycle path from Haddenham to Thame.

The Junior School was the first school to use the new path
