Meeting held at Ickford 10th Dec 2008

Margaret and I attended the meeting on a bitterly cold night but the hospitality from Ickford PC, including mince pies, was excellent.

The meeting opened with a NAG report from the new PC to the area, a rather burly Dean Kingham. He said the emphasis on policing, as decided by the NAG, was on problems caused by youths in the area. But he did say this not a particular problem in Haddenham.

There followed a presentation by Chiltern Rail on the proposed car park deck at Haddenham, and the new service from Oxford via Bicester to Marylebone. Which would require extensive work at Bicester Town. I was puzzled when he quoted various times to Maylebone, but not from Haddenham. When I questioned him about this he admitted these trains would not stop at Haddenham. I expressed disapproval as virtually all of the people at the meeting use Haddenham Station as their local.  Margaret feels we ought to write to Chiltern Rail to get this decision changed.

Richard Maskell gave an update on Community Transport. A cheap bus service run by BCC which has been used by Haddenham Youth Club.

Haddenham LAF has been suggested as a pilot to create a local community plan, using an amalgam from existing village plans etc. The next meeting will be solely to discuss. Personally I think there are more important issues.

Laurie Johnston gave an extremely interesting revelation of the purposes of Bucks Community Action. Its remit amongst other things is to advise villages on running Village Halls, funding for projects, and Playground Equipment. I am sure we should be making use of this service.

Anne-Marie Davis talked about the Delegated Transport Budget. For our LAF it is £17,000 for 2009.  Apparently the BCC will score bides and the LAF votes on them (one vote per PC)   Gill says we have already submitted our requests.

Questions were asked about the lack of gritting on roads this year. Dave Smith said that the gritting was done on a strictly priority basis depending on accident rates.
BCC have published a booklet showing which roads are gritted.

I notice from a new publication Haddenham & Long Crendon Area Newsletter. Haddenham has been selected as a “Historic Town “David perhaps we could use this in arguments in objecting to some of the naff planning application we receive.
