Snakemore Diary - Winter11
Springtime is on it’s way and the snow drops are out.
Bright sunshine shone on the February working party as primroses, periwinkles and foxglove seedlings were planted along the ditch sides, the pond banks were cleared and a water lily planted. Trees have also been pruned and undergrowth cleared, whilst hedge laying continued on the entrance path. The willow way has grown, as small branches from the coppicing of a willow have been planted.
This February has also seen the addition of two kestrel boxes (one as a replacement), a barn owl and a tawny owl box. The AVDC barn Owl project officer plans to ring the young birds in these boxes and monitor them. On his visit he already spotted a tawny owl sitting in the entrance of an existing box!
