Snakemoor Diary - Summer 2010
As Spring glides into Summer, Snakemoor has been busy hosting, developing and improving.
At the end of April, the Guides visited and discussed exciting plans for making a willow tunnel in the future, for when the conditions aren’t so dry. Whilst there, they watered the new trees.
Network rail’s plans of lowering the ditch have been carried out considerately, causing minimum disruption to trees, plants and the environment. In return, Snakemoor can look forward to another 1000 magnificent bluebells to be planted.
Haddenham Community Infant School enjoyed the reserve, as they participated in the Great Plant hunt organised by Kew gardens. A tour and a few tips to help them identify wild flowers set them well on the way. The planned path should make walking trips like this much safer next year.
A piece of Snakemoor’s history has now been marked, as the Diana Alderson seat has now got a plaque commemorating her declaring Snakemoor a local Nature Reserve.
Finally, the Rainbows have enjoyed a guided nature walk , spotting and identifying some flowers and trees.
